If you notice that the door closer is not working properly, then we recommend checking:

1. Whether the door closer model is correctly selected for the weight of the door.
2. Is the closer installed correctly.
3. Is the closer adjusted.
4. In what conditions the door closer is operated.

Next, we will tell you in more detail what exactly needs to be checked, and why.

1. The correct choice of the door closer model for the weight of the door.

Each closer model is designed for a certain door weight (the weight range is indicated in the name, on the packaging, and in the instructions).

If the weight of the door exceeds the declared one, the door closer may not fully close the door, and there is also a high risk of breakage of the gear mechanism of the door closer.

If the weight of the door is less than in the characteristics of the closer, then the process of opening the door itself will be difficult, the door will be difficult to open. It is not possible to adjust the opening force using adjustments.

Please note that a sufficiently strong wind may create additional resistance when closing the door.

2. Correct installation of the door closer.

The closer body can be installed both on the door frame and on the door leaf.
If the door opens on itself, then the closer is installed on the door leaf.

The closer screws must always point towards the hinges during installation.

For the installation of door closers, we recommend inviting specialists with appropriate qualifications who provide a guarantee for their services.

The installation process is shown in detail in the video instruction.

Important! When installing, the adjustable part of the closer lever must be fixed perpendicular to the surface

Incorrect lever setting is one of the most common mistakes. Most often, the lever is installed so that its non-adjustable part (the one that is attached to the body) is perpendicular to the surface, and the adjustable part is attached at an angle. It is not right! It should be the other way around. The correct way to install the lever, see the photo below.

For each model of the NORA-M door closer, an individual instruction has been developed. It describes step by step the installation process of the door closer.

3. Correct adjustment of the door closer

If the closer model is selected correctly and the closer is installed correctly, but the doors close too slowly or too quickly, it is necessary to adjust the closing speed of the closer.

Each closer is adjusted with two screws (except 740DAwhich is adjustable with three screws).

Screw 1 — adjustable closing speed, range from 180 to 18-20 degrees.

Screw 2 — adjustment of the finishing speed, the range is from 18-20 degrees to 0.

Turn the screws fully clockwise before adjusting.

Next, you need to adjust the closing speed (screw 1), then the finishing speed (screw 2).

!Attention! Do not completely unscrew the adjustment screw — this leads to oil leakage. The maximum number of turns of the screw in closers is 5 turns, except for models 4S and 4ST

Seasonal adjustment of the door closer is a must! If the closer is installed on the entrance doors or on the street, it must be adjusted every season, when the average temperature changes by 15 degrees.

In the cold season, the closer oil becomes thicker, so the adjustment screws must be slightly loosened, increasing the passage capacity of the channels. Screws are unscrewed counterclockwise.

In the warm season, the oil becomes slightly thinner, so the screws must be slightly turned clockwise.

4. Improper operation.

Improper operation can also lead to damage to the closer. For example, forced closing of the door with force. This creates excess pressure inside the closer housing, which leads to the extrusion of rubber seals, and oil leakage occurs.

It is also important to look at the operation of the door itself — whether the hinges function well, whether there are distortions in the door frame. This can also affect the correct operation of the door closer.
